It all got more real for me today. ArtPrize 2014 will be starting later this month, and I dropped off my photograph today at The Womens City Club for installation. The ballroom has been converted into a gallery where 52 artists will be showing this year.
I worked on location at a house in Holland (Michigan) this week. I loved this old Victorian which was completely renovated to feature this custom made spiral suitcase. I couldn’t resist shooting this while the assistant took a minute to stretch his legs.
What a nice evening it has been to visit The Urban Institute for Contemporary Arts. The Festival of the Arts exhibit opening party was tonight, and it was great. I am honored to be a participating artist. The show runs through August 17. The UICA is at Division and Fulton in Grand Rapids, MI.

We decided to visit Northern Michigan this week since my husband and I haven’t been up that way in a very long time. We are visiting Sault Saint Marie (about 6 hours north of Grand Rapids in the Upper Penninsula) today and I have been loving the character of the old downtown area. There are many old signs that I can’t help but photograph. The one above is my favorite.
My daughter and I like to take walks this time of year when the weather starts to (finally) warm up. Besides the snow melting this is a sure sign that Spring is on its way.
